With the holidays right around the corner, right now can be an extremely stressful time for any salon or spa. As a salon or spa owner, you may be wondering how you can alleviate some of that stress. My answer: Preparation! In order to maximize your earnings and have your business operations run smoothly during the holidays, you must be ready for the occasion.
Prepare a holiday schedule.
With a higher volume of clients, having the appropriate number of staff scheduled is essential. Make a holiday schedule so that no conflicting issues arise. Consider hiring seasonal staff for this busy time. Remember, failing to have a properly arranged schedule means missing out on booking opportunities, and potential new clients.
Adjust holiday hours.
With more demand, you may want to adjust your business hours. Whether it be opening earlier, closing later, or opening on a Monday, consider making an adjustment to create an opportunity for more clients to come in the door. Make it known to clients that you will have additional hours. Update your website, answering message, social media sites, and put signage in your store.
Highlight express massage and facial services.
With the stress of the holidays, nothing is better than a facial massage. Offer “Glow and Go” facial massage and mask services to appeal to clients looking for a relaxing mask and massage treatment. Express holiday treatments are also great for clients who don’t have hours to spend. If you work in a salon, remind hair stylists to cross promote these services with hair services.
Be ready to sell.
Holiday season means an opportunity for your register to grow. Set up your holiday displays — have a small stocking stuffer table near check out, holiday gift baskets assembled, and create a festive atmosphere with holiday décor. Also make sure to have your spa gift cards! Now is the time to take the fear out of selling by reading my tips on how to boost your retail sales.
Spread the word
Make sure your website and social media pages are up to date with your holiday hours, promotions being run, special holiday treatments being offered, gift card availability, and any special events you may have. Send an email blast to your client base weekly during the months of November and December to inform them of your holiday offerings.
