December 9th, 2013, Secaucus, NJ – Another year, another wonderful Repêchage Network Power Lunch – Champagne Brunch at the Repêchage headquarters! Beauty industry professionals, including salon and spa business owners, skincare educators, and doctors were amongst those in attendance for this year’s event. Beauty industry legends and power houses such as Celebrity Hairstylist and Owner of Ted Gibson Salons, Ted Gibson, Author of Milady’s Standard Textbook for Professional Estheticians and Milady’s Standard Fundamentals for Estheticians, Dr. Joel Gerson, and Founders and Owners of Tricoci University of Beauty Culture, and Mario Tricoci Hair Salon & Day Spas, Mario and Cheryl Tricoci, all joined Lydia Sarfati at the now iconic Network Power Lunch – Champagne Brunch.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted with mimosas and champagne! A fabulous brunch spread followed, along with a little holiday shopping, featuring the new Repêchage Sea Me Set, for guests to enjoy with event only specials.

 Following food and shopping was a warm welcome by Repêchage CEO and Founder Lydia Sarfati, who introduced business partner and long time friend Lois Christie, CEO and Hair Color Director of Christie & Co. Salon & Spa and President of Intercoiffure America/Canada. Attorney Christine Senseig, and Jack Panico, Owner of Panico Salon & Spa, proceeded and delivered powerful presentations for guests to enjoy.

Christie is Founder, CEO and Hair Color Director of Christie & Co. Salon, one of the largest and most prestigious salons in New York City. She has been acknowledged by the Mayor as one of the most successful business women in Queens. She is also an award-winning beauty industry business woman and lecturer, and was recently elected as the first woman President of “Intercoiffure America/Canada,”an international organization representing the best salons worldwide. Lois delivered her presentation, “Adapting & Reacting – Trends to Improve Your Bottom Line.” Lois discussed the transitions of salons and spas over the years, and how important it is for salons and spas to adjust their business methods accordingly. As Lois expressed, “In this new economy we need to take back our business and become more full service by including nails, waxing, skincare, hair color, retail, and express services. Clients are time poor and would prefer all services in one location. As salon and spa business owners we must adapt and make these necessary changes to re-capture clients.”

Attorney Christine Sensenig was next to take the podium. Sensenig practices Employment and Labor Law, and has over 17 years of experience. She writes handbooks for employers and conducts training to assist with educating supervisors and employees about their rights and responsibilities under various federal, state, and local laws. She was named a “Florida Legal Elite Attorney” by Florida Trend Magazine in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Given her background, Christine gave her presentation “Avoiding a Government Shutdown – What Spa and Salon Professionals Need to Know About Employment Law.” Christine discussed various employment and labor law topics, ranging from equal opportunity laws, child labor laws, and minimum wage laws, to the legal differences between an employee and independent contractor, and how to properly document workers. The underlying theme of Sensenig’s presentation was how important it is for business owners to be in the know when it comes to employment and labor law. As Sensenig stated, “To be successful business owners, all must understand the legal matters and laws in regards to what is expected of you and your employees.”

After a short break for chocolate covered strawberries, spirulina cupcakes and shopping, Jack Panico took the stage. A 28 year veteran of the beauty industry, Jack is not only a high-end beauty expert and top industry leader, but he is also President and CEO of four prestigious salons and spas in Ridgewood, Oradell, and West Caldwell, NJ as well as South Beach, Florida. He travels the country as a trusted consultant for both elite manufacturers and private salon and spa owners. Jack presented, “Passion & Purpose – Elevating Your Business and Giving Back” where he discussed how important it is for salons and spas to work with the community and give back. Jack stressed this point by telling guests about “Fashion and Beauty Week”, a beauty event hosted by Jack and his team that focuses on raising funds and awareness for Diabetes. Jack really stressed the importance of salon and spa owners working together to take on these kinds of initiatives. As Jack proclaimed, “For salon and spa business owners, to elevate business and give back to the community, we must come together and work with one another.”

Last but not least, Repêchage CEO and Founder Lydia Sarfati took the stage for “You’ve Been Upgraded – Enhancing Your Business and Giving Back.” Sarfati highlighted the importance of focusing on delivering top quality customer service to clients and how to successfully upgrade client treatments. As Sarfati stated, “How do we beat average? For better business in 2014, we must focus on delivering exceptional services to turn the average customer into a loyal client. This means turning every spa and salon treatment into a 5 star experience.” Through upgrades and upselling services, salons and spas can create a more profitable 2014. Her presentation  included live demonstrations of the new Repêchage Lamina Lift™ Mask, the Detox Foot Treatment, and the Repêchage Anti-Aging Hand Treatment, as examples of treatments that can serve as upgrades for clients.

Proceeding Sarfati’s presentation was a special Q&A with all the speakers, as a chance for attendees to gain additional insight by asking the speakers questions directly.
