Do What You Love: 10 Reasons I Love Being an Esthetician

As the CEO of an international skincare company and an esthetician, my career has taken me across the globe, and continues to be as fulfilling a profession as the day I earned my esthetician’s license.

There are so many reasons why I am grateful for my career. Here are ten of my top reasons.

1. Educating others about skin care

I love being able to educate people on the importance of great skin care. Often people do not realize how crucial it is to take care of your skin, so being able to put them on the right track is so rewarding.

Today, I am privileged to educate the next generation of estheticians so they can provide the best services to their clients.

2. Giving clients hope

I first made a name for myself in New York City as the esthetician to see when you had lost hope in getting rid of problem areas.  I took on this challenge and my clients and reputation grew.

Providing care to clients who had lived with their skin problems without help or hope was the beginning of my deep love for the process, and one that I still cherish providing today.

3. Feeling pride in my work

Seeing your client leave the spa with a huge smile and glowing face is a reward in itself, knowing that your work initiated it. Being an esthetician combines science with beauty to help create healthy glowing skin – and that’s certainly something to be proud of.

4. Knowing how to properly take care of my own skin

As the face of an international skin care company, I have to maintain perfect skin.  Fortunately, Repêchage® seaweed-based skin care products help me to do that every day.

As an esthetician, you must always make sure that your own skin is healthy-looking and glowing.

My esthetics work doesn’t stop when I’m finished with my last client – I use proper esthetics  techniques on my own skin as well, knowing that I’m taking the best care of my skin that I can.

5. Being able to combine a variety of interests into one career

Being an esthetician doesn’t just involve applying product to a client’s face – it requires so much more than that, including knowledge of chemistry and biology.

Estheticians must be educated in the formulas and ingredients of the products they are utilizing, and know how those products will affect each individual client.

Estheticians must also be well-versed in human anatomy as many treatments involve massage or treatment on various parts of the body.

As an esthetician, you really are a jack of all trades.

6. Being a part of an ever-changing industry

We are so fortunate to be a part of an industry that is always growing and changing.

There are so many opportunities to advance your education as an esthetician and keep up with the latest advancements – skin care is always exciting!

7. Forming lasting relationships with clients

As an esthetician, you will have the wonderful opportunity to meet people from all walks of life.

Forming a relationship with clients can be so rewarding, both personally and for your business.

Get to know each and every one of your clients – you are there to help them in their skin care journey, but you might be surprised what you can learn from them as well.

8. No day is ever the same

As an esthetician, your days are never the same – one day you could be performing a series of anti-aging facials, the next, you could be doing mostly waxing – or even a day when all of your clients are getting something completely different.

You’ll certainly never bored as an esthetician!

9. Seeing final results

There is no better feeling than finishing a treatment and seeing your client with beautiful, glowing skin – it makes absolutely everything worth it.

You can be confident in the products you’re using and the treatments you’ve been giving, knowing that your client will have lasting results because of you.

10. Always being inspired

Whether it’s at a trade show, manufacturer classes and events, or even in my own treatment room.

I never miss a moment to learn something new – I am thankful every day for the invaluable lessons I’ve learned and experiences I’ve had, and always look forward to sharing them with you.

  1. Thanks for discussing about being an esthetician and how each day you can find something new with clients and the procedures that you do. I’m thinking about shifting my career into this industry since I am tired of my desk job. I might just consider enrolling to a good beauty academy to start this transition.

  2. I really love the points you made in this article, they’re really helpful in motivating me to pursue my dream of being an esthetician. You made a great point with how it can give clients hope, seeing their faces light up with how effective skin care can be and giving them the confidence they never knew they had will be worth all the troubles the job may bring. I’ll make sure to keep these points in mind if ever I have doubts regarding my career path once I enroll in an esthetics school. I just need to keep reminding myself there’s a lot to gain in this career and that it’s something I’d love to do as well.
